It all started in March 2020, when Kelsey shared an invitation for a free Zoom call open to publicists and writers in her newsletter and unexpectedly had 100 people sign up. What began as weekly calls helping media professionals connect evolved into workshops incorporating other journalists.
Sensing a shift that was favoring transactional pitching over building relationships, Kelsey saw a need to create a space for community and collaboration between publicists and writers, and greater transparency across the industry in general.
A visionary in her field, having even published a blog about the PR-writer relationships since 2017, Kelsey harnessed her ability to bring the right people together to lead important conversations on the most pressing issues in media of our time and wrapped it in one neat package called Pitchcraft.
She officially founded Pitchcraft alongside her husband, Derrick Ogletree, in late 2021. Today, Pitchcraft is a fast-growing and deeply intentional platform that’s fundamentally reshaping how PR professionals and journalists of all backgrounds work together.
